Why are reusable steel kegs more sustainable than Why are reusable steel kegs more sustainable than ‘recyclable’ one-way PET kegs?

The answer may surprise you.

‘Recyclable’ one-way kegs aren’t actually recycled.

That’s because there are currently no facilities within the US that can effectively recycle Amber PET.

All plastic kegs — including bag in keg — are constructed with multiple types of plastic components that can not be recycled unless carefully deconstructed.

According to the EPA, only 6% of large format PET gets recycled.

The rest is trash.

The kegs either end up in landfills or incinerated.

With reusable steel kegs, there is nothing to throw away or recycle making it a truly zero-waste package #showyoursteel #earthday2022

Small & #sustainable changes to our daily routine Small & #sustainable changes to our daily routine can make a big impact. If you're unsure how to start making those small changes, let the Six R’s help:

🌲REFUSE - Say ‘no’ to things you don’t need.

🌲REUSE - Reuse instead of buying new, or opt for products in reusable packaging like wine in steel keg!

🌲RECYCLE - Research what is recyclable in your county and commit to recycling those items. And don’t be fooled by #greenwashing! Many products made with recyclable materials are not recyclable.

🌲REPAIR - Fix items instead of throwing them away.

🌲ROT - Compost your food and opt for compostable products and packaging when possible.
